Do you allow students to split with another firm for the summer? While we prefer that you spend your entire summer with us, in certain circumstances, we do allow students to clerk with us for a portion of the summer. Our minimum stay for second year students is eight weeks at the beginning of the summer.
How is my work evaluated? Every attorney you work for evaluates your work and provides you with prompt feedback. You also receive mid-summer and end-of-summer reviews.
Am I expected to bill a minimum number of hours? No, you are not required to bill a minimum number of hours. We do ask you to keep track of your time for client billing and administrative purposes.
Will I have a mentor? Yes, you will be teamed with an attorney who serves as your mentor. Your mentor is a great resource to help you become familiar with the firm.
Will I have direct interaction with partners? Absolutely. Work assignments, training sessions, partner breakfasts, lunches and dinners, hosted parties and BBQs, and other social events are designed to promote interaction between you and CCN partners. In addition, you will have the opportunity to accompany partners in court, at depositions and at client meetings.
Will I have secretarial support? Yes, you will be assigned a secretary who also works with other attorneys or legal assistants.
Are offers of employment made to specific teams or through a rotation system? Students participating in our summer program will get work from a variety of teams and will interact with all of the teams. We do not have a rotation system. Employment offers are made to specific teams, depending on the firm's needs.
Does CCN offer any compensation while I am studying for the bar? Yes, the firm pays for a basic bar review course, an additional course of your choice, and all bar exam fees. You will receive a stipend equal to one month's salary shortly after your graduation from law school.
