Cox, Castle & Nicholson LLP, a leading California real estate, financial services and litigation firm, is pleased to announce today that Erica A. Bose and Alicia N. Vaz are its newest partners for 2011. Bose and Vaz, who practice in Los Angeles, both started at the firm as summer associates and represent the firm’s deep commitment to developing its associates through partnership and career success.

“While many large firms are reducing their partnership opportunities to maintain profitability and leverage, we believe our associates are a key component of our future economic growth,” said Mario Camara, a senior member of the firm’s executive committee. “Both Alicia Vaz and Erica Bose have shown consistent growth in developing excellent lawyering skills and achieving success for their clients. Each has also demonstrated the skills necessary to continue to expand their thriving practices even through challenging economic times.”

Bose served as a summer associate at the firm in 2000 and joined the firm as a first year associate in 2001. She has since represented developers, homebuilders, pension funds and equity investors and land bankers in numerous transactions, covering the gamut of complex residential and commercial real estate. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and serves on the institute’s Programs Committee in Los Angeles. She earned an undergraduate degree in American Studies from Vassar College in 1994 and earned her law degree at the University of California Los Angeles School of Law in 2001. Southern California Super Lawyers has named Bose as one of the region’s Rising Stars from 2008 to 2010. She has written numerous articles and spoken frequently at industry events. For many years, she has mentored associates and has served on the firm’s summer associate, practice development and recruiting committees.

Vaz started at the firm as a summer associate in 2000 and represents clients in high-level litigation and appellate matters. Her cases have included purchase and sale, property and boundary, leasing and property management, partnership, labor and employment, unfair competition, construction, insurance, tax and bond, environmental and land use, financing and intellectual property disputes. She has written numerous articles and has made presentations to bar and industry associations. Within the firm, she served on the firm’s recruiting, summer associate and practice development committees, and has mentored summer clerks and associates. She is a member of the Board of the Trial Practice Inn of Court for the Los Angeles County Bar Association and is the Real Property Reporter for the bar association’s Real Property Section. Since 2007, she has been named a Rising Star by Southern California Super Lawyers. Vaz earned a degree in Political Science and Business Administration at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1997 and a law degree at the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall, in 2001.

“We are particularly gratified that many long-time firm clients regard Erica and Alicia as having performed at the partner level already for many years and they have been especially effusive in their compliments about their achievements,” Camara concluded. “We too applaud Erica and Alicia and look forward to many rewarding years ahead with them.”
