Melissa handles a broad range of real estate and business litigation matters including construction defect and delay claims, contract disputes, such as specific performance and lease interpretation, easement disputes, fraud allegations, insurance coverage, environmental, and land use (including CEQA). She has experience in all aspects of the litigation process, from pre-filing preparation and pre-judgment remedies through post-judgment proceedings.
Litigation Know-How And The Tools To Resolve Disputes
Melissa successfully defends and prosecutes cases in state court, as well as in alternative dispute resolution venues. She has second-chaired two jury trials, a judicial reference proceeding, and an arbitration hearing. She also handles mediations and settlement conferences. Working along side the firm's transactional attorneys, Melissa provides valuable analysis and creative solutions to identify and avoid litigation risks.
In addition to drafting and arguing successful motions, Melissa is involved in the discovery and litigation process, including taking and defending depositions, drafting discovery, negotiating and drafting settlement agreements, preparing for trial, participating in post-judgment collection proceedings, and drafting writs and appeals.
Melissa was an extern for the Honorable Carol A. Corrigan at the California Court of Appeal, First District, Division Three, who has since been appointed to the California Supreme Court.
