Cox Castle Nicholson partner Caroline Dreyfus, a real estate finance attorney with nearly two decades of experience, was installed as 2017-2018 chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s (LACBA) Real Property Section at the 19th Annual Awards Dinner held at City Club Los Angeles on June 21. Formerly the section’s first vice chair, Dreyfus moves up the ranks in one of the largest voluntary metropolitan bar associations in the United States, serving more than 20,000 members, attorneys, judges and other legal professionals.

Under her leadership, Dreyfus will guide the Real Property Section in the planning and implementation of substantive programs for section members and members of LACBA at-large on all aspects of the law, including transactions and litigation. Dreyfus also will oversee the Real Property Section’s six subsections, which span general real property, land use and environmental, title insurance, commercial development, construction and real estate finance.

“This is a proud moment for all of us at Cox Castle Nicholson,” said Mario Camara, senior partner on the firm’s executive committee. “Real estate is an increasingly large foundational component of our nation’s economy, and the LACBA Real Property Section is the lifeblood of our industry and all that we do for our clients. We have no doubt that Caroline’s leadership will take LACBA’s mission, and our industry, to new heights.”

Dreyfus is an award-winning attorney who represents borrowers and lenders, including national banks, regional banks, life insurance companies and private lenders in connection with construction loans, repositioning loans, mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, multi-state transactions, loan modifications, forbearances, discounted payoffs, and loan purchases and sales. In the past two years, Dreyfus has been involved in nearly 80 transactions totaling more than $2.88 billion. Dreyfus also has received a host of awards including: Southern California Super Lawyers, Real Estate Southern California Women of Influence, Century City Chamber of Commerce Women of Achievement and LACBA’s Outstanding Young Lawyer. At Cox Castle Nicholson, she oversees the firm’s paralegal program and is a team leader for the capital markets practice group.

Prior to her nearly 16 years at Cox Castle, Dreyfus practiced at Reed Smith LLP (formerly Crosby Heafey Roach & May) and Kutak Rock LLP. She earned a law degree from the Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona. A LACBA member for more than a decade, Dreyfus has held positions with the association’s finance subsection and executive committee.

“My predecessor set out to increase membership, engage younger attorneys and bolster networking opportunities and programs, and I look forward to continuing this momentum in the coming year,” said Dreyfus. “To work alongside our county’s distinguished attorneys and other members to advance the legal profession is truly a career milestone, and I’m honored to take on this prestigious role.”
