Cox, Castle & Nicholson Announces Participation in Midsize Mansfield Rule Certification Process to Boost Diversity in Leadership

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (October 7, 2021) Cox Castle & Nicholson, a leading full-service law firm specializing in real estate in the United States, announced today the firm is participating in the second iteration of Diversity Lab’s Midsize Mansfield Rule certification process aimed at increasing diversity in law firm leadership. Cox Castle’s partnership with Diversity Lab is part of the firm’s overall goals to recruit and advance the hiring, development, and promotion of diverse lawyers in the firm and the legal profession.

“At Cox Castle, we recognize that people are our greatest asset and encouraging varied perspectives and experiences in our workplace is integral to the culture of the firm and enhances our ability to deliver the highest quality legal services to our clients,” said Alicia Vaz, partner and chair of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee at Cox Castle. “Our participation in the Midsize Mansfield Rule certification process builds upon Cox Castle’s continued commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the firm and its leadership, and adds accountability and benchmarks to measure our progress.”

The overall goal of the Midsize Mansfield Rule is to increase the number of attorneys in firm leadership from historically underrepresented groups by challenging firms to consider at least 30% of women, LGBTQ+ lawyers, lawyers with disabilities, and/or racial/ethnic minority lawyers for entry-level and lateral attorney job openings, equity partner promotions, management positions, and opportunities to connect with clients.  The 18-month certification period (September 15, 2021 to March 14, 2023) is designed to provide participating firms time to make meaningful progress in hiring, promoting, and presenting leadership opportunities to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Firms that successfully complete the Midsize Mansfield Rule criteria, will be designated as “Mansfield Certified.”
