Overview
Alec Nicholson is a transactional project finance attorney focused on affordable housing and mixed-income residential real estate projects.
He advises for-profit and nonprofit developers in the acquisition, disposition, financing, and development of mixed-income and low-income restricted rental housing throughout the United States. Alec assists clients in navigating the complex financial and legal tools necessary to construct and operate these projects, including tax-exempt bonds, low-income housing tax credits, property tax exemptions (including California’s welfare exemption from property tax), and other public subsidies.
Previously, Alec counseled startup and social enterprise clients on various corporate and business legal matters, including selection and formation of business entities, corporate governance, technology transactions, and equity compensation.
Alec also has experience working in alternative dispute resolution as a mediator, negotiation coach, and conflict navigator.
