Overview
Craig Hirsch represents companies, directors and officers in third-party liability insurance recovery matters and coverage disputes with insurance companies. He has achieved victories for corporate policyholders resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars of insurance recoveries over the past seventeen years.
He has extensive experience advising on financial lines and third-party liability insurance programs, focusing on directors & officers (D&O), professional liability (E&O), private equity and asset management, cyber protection, employment practices liability, media liability, fiduciary liability, commercial general liability, commercial property and similar policy forms.
Craig has been a trusted advisor to clients on insurance-related issues and a coverage advocate for Fortune 500 companies, publicly-traded corporations, “unicorn” startups and privately-held firms in a wide array of industry sectors, including finance, investment management, energy, education, information technology, real estate, pharmaceuticals and health care, telecommunications, construction, manufacturing and consumer brands.
He is a seasoned litigator with trial experience who has successfully brought and led coverage actions against liability insurance companies in various jurisdictions for breach of the duty to defend and indemnify, and bad faith claims handling practices. Through his litigation teams, Craig has obtained multimillion-dollar judgments for underlying defense costs, settlement payments and adverse judgments.
Craig also writes and speaks extensively on financial lines and liability insurance topics, including how to avoid and defeat common law and policy-based coverage defenses.
Craig received his B.A. in English from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and his J.D from Brooklyn Law School in 2004.
