The Daily Journal recognized Tim Paone as a top real estate attorney in its special report on real estate published August 15, 2012. The publication highlighted 30 of the state's best real estate lawyers.

An article in the report about Paone discusses his early days in land use law, when Paone was fresh out of law school and put in charge of the biggest piece of land use litigation in Orange County history.

“It was crazy, to put it mildly, that they did that,” Paone said. “But it sure gave me a good head start in terms of being a land use lawyer.”

These days, Paone has a wealth of experience to draw from and has helped clients to move forward with big projects “in an economy when most deals were stagnant.” Among other key projects, the article highlights work Paone did in late 2010 to help Lyon Communities resolve environmental concerns and gain approval for renovations to a 240-unit apartment complex in Marina del Rey.

“For me the challenge was to help the client work with the regulations in place and allow the project to move forward and at the same time demonstrate that we would be very sensitive to all the species on site,” he said. “At the same time, we wanted to stay within the regulations of the county and the Coastal Commission and not have this turn into a big elaborate process for renovations.”
