Darden Clean Energy Project Approved by the California Energy Commission
The California Energy Commission recently approved the Darden Clean Energy Project, a 2.3 solar generation project in Fresno County, CA. Once built, the project will power 850,000 homes, making it the world's largest PV solar and energy storage project. Historically, it's the first project approved under California's Opt-In Certification Program, which was introduced in Assembly Bill 205. The program allows for projects to go through a faster environmental review process, barring major changes.
Cox Castle played a pivotal role in getting the project to where it is now. Supporting developer IP Darden I, LLC, a subsidiary of Intersect Power, the firm assisted in the approval process. This was a collaborative effort from the firm, as members of the Renewable Energy and Real Estate teams joined forces.
