Overview

John Hickey is a seasoned land use attorney who guides complex development projects from initial feasibility through final entitlement and approval. His practice focuses on land use entitlements, environmental review, and public agency negotiations, representing developers, property owners, and public agencies in land use and real estate matters, including transactions and easements.

John advises clients on entitlement strategy, environmental compliance, and risk mitigation, leveraging state law and local ordinances to streamline approvals and navigate regulatory challenges. He has deep expertise in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Subdivision Map Act, and the Coastal Act, and develops tailored legal strategies for a wide range of projects, including single-family and multifamily residential developments, corporate headquarters, large mixed-use master-planned communities, and industrial facilities.

Previously, John was responsible for securing entitlements and permits for more than 2,000 new homes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, encompassing townhomes, condominiums, single-family residences, and apartment communities.
