Overview

Chris is an experienced transactional real estate attorney who focuses on structuring, negotiating and closing complex multifamily, mixed-use, homebuilder, industrial and commercial transactions.  Chris provides key strategic and risk management counsel to his clients and is dedicated to their success.  His clients regularly rely on him to “run the deal.”

He has a well-earned reputation for successfully navigating complex legal challenges with a practical approach to problem solving. He is part of the award-winning Cox Castle Real Estate practice which has received recognition by Chambers and Partners USA, U.S. News – Best Law Firms, and Legal 500, among others. 

His daily practice includes the negotiation and preparation of critical deal agreements, including purchase and sale, joint venture, property management, development management, profit participation, and cost sharing agreements.

He has extensive experience representing a broad spectrum of clients, from large institutional investors, REITs, master developers and public companies, to nimble entrepreneurial developers, non-institutional investors and local builders. 

Chris also represents clients in the acquisition and disposition of affordable housing and mixed-income residential apartment projects. 

Chris has also represented some of the nation's most prestigious country clubs in connection with the structuring and implementation of equity and non-equity membership programs, creating balloting programs, preparation of club bylaws and addressing ongoing member matters. Chris has also successfully closed the sale of a number of operating golf courses and navigated the challenges unique to this asset class.

Chris earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law in 2001, where he participated in the Hale Moot Court honors program.
